FAQ

What the heck are LUTs?

Valid question. Maybe you just got your first camera, you’ve been watching tons of YouTube tutorials and you keep hearing everyone throw around this term “LUT”, or maybe you’ve been shooting photos for a long time and now you’re interested in shooting video or… you somehow stumbled on this page down the rabbit hole and now you’re just curious - that’s okay too!

To put it simply…

LUTs are coloring presets (or filters) for VIDEO

Think of them like Instagram filters. You know how you swipe over to change the “look” on Instagram stories? Same thing.

How do you use them?

Here’s a video of my process

Will these work in my editor?

These LUTs have been fully tested and are known to work in:

  • Adobe Premiere Pro

  • Final Cut Pro

  • Davinci Resolve

  • LumaFusion

If you have a different editor try googling “Does [your editor] accept .cube luts”

They should work in most editors as “.cube” files are fairly standard.

What picture profile should I use?

For my work - I use a custom cine 4 picture profile.

If you’re a more advanced user, want the best possible image, or need more dynamic range - you can try s-log2. You’ll also find some S-Log2 Luts in the store.

I like cine4 because it takes less time to get a good looking image.

What about editing photos?

For photos you’ll want to make sure you get the Lightroom Presets. Also called “BLUEPRESETS” in my store

Here’s a video about how I edit photos.
